Jeniffer Bray의 싸인을 받다. 본문
지난 주 암스테르담의 WiCon World 2004 전시회에서 "Bluetooth 1.1: Connect without Cables"의 공동저자인 Jeniffet Bray를 만났다. Jeniffer Bray는 CSR社의 컨설턴트로 재직하면서 Bluetooth SIG의 Architectural Committee에서 활발한 활동을 하고 있다고 한다. Bluetooth 계에서는 바이블처럼 여겨지는 이 책을 비롯하여 몇가지의 관련 서적을 출간한 Jeniffer를 직접 볼 수 있었던게 개인적으로 무척 영광된 일이라... 잘 못하는 영어로 말을 걸어서 악수도 하고 싸인도 받았다.
전시회의 "Wireless Security" 부문의 마지막 세미나에 Jeniffer가 발표를 했고... 거기서 실제로 처음 보았다. 그 다음엔 우리 부스를 정리하면서 쓰레기 버리고 돌아오는 길에 만나서 말을 걸었고 악수를 했다. 약간 과장을 해서 팬이라고 했더니 엄청 좋아하면서 떠났다. 머리를 뒤로 동여매고 안경을 쓰고 있었고 뚱뚱한 몸매에 청바지 차림에 배낭을 매고 가는 모습이 마치 유랑 생활을 하는 고수의 모습이랄까... 사진을 같이 못찍어서 아쉬웠는데 전시회장 앞의 TRAM 역에서 다시 만났다. 그 자리에서 싸인을 받았고 (또다시 엄청 좋아했다...) 사진을 찍고 싶었으나 TRAM이 오는 바람에 아쉽게도 포기했다.
사실 연예인에게도 싸인을 요구했던 적은 없었는데... 하여간 이번 출장의 가장 좋은 추억이었다.

Jennifer Bray is a consultant in CSR, the single-chip Bluetooth company. She is currently working in the group developing software for their Bluecore family of ICs. She has a B.S. in Physics with Microcomputer electronics, an M.S. in Satellite Communications Engineering, and a doctorate in the field of wireless communications. More recently, she gained a distinction in the Open University's Management of Technology course. Her decade of experience in communications product development includes working on Nortel & 3Com's first ATM systems, as well as wireless ATM, the first secure ethernet repeater, ADSL to ATM gateways, FDDI, CDMA, CDMA, and Bluetooth. In addition to her communications development experience, she has worked on cutting edge control and monitoring systems for Formula One and Indy cars, and acted as an ISO 9001 and CMM auditor advising blue-chip companies on how to improve their development and support processes. Jennifer has written and delivered technology training courses (naturally including Bluetooth), and is a frequent speaker at conferences.She co-authored with Charles Sturman Bluetooth: Connect Without Cables. In contrast to her high-tech work, Jennifer's hobbies include early medieval reenactment, spinning, weaving and motorcycling.
