김연아 선수 SP 78.5, FS 150.06, 합계 228.56 으로 1위. 두어번의 실수는 있었지만 정말 최선을 다한 아사다 마오와 23점 차이.

2. 계획된 프로그램에 대해 SP 클린, FS도 클린.
3. 1992년 알베르빌 동계올림픽의 크리스티 야마구치 이후로 SP, FS 모두 1위로 금메달은 처음.

김연아 선수의 쇼트 프로그램 프로토콜이다. Attention도 없고 minus도 없는 클린 성적. 감점은 이미 문제가 아니고 가산점을 얼마나 받았느냐가 관건. 신기록이 나올수 밖에 없는 성적표이다.

이건 오늘 열린 프리스케이팅 프로토콜이다. 말도 안되는 환상의 점수이다. 실행요소의 기본점수 60.9에 총17.4점의 가산점을 받았고 PC는 거의 9점 이상. 합계 150.06 이라는 상상할 수 없었던 점수를 받았다. 2009 봉파르에서의 자신의 기록인 133.95를 무려 16점 가까이 올려받은 것. 일부 심판진이 Jap 머니에 매수가 되었는지 어쨌는지는 몰라도 수행결과가 너무 완벽하니 잘 줄 수 밖에 없었던 상황이었다. 이것이 데이비드 윌슨의 거쉰 F 장조 프로그램의 진짜 점수인 것이다. 앞으로 이걸 누가 깰 수 있을까?

아래는 뉴욕타임즈에 오늘 실린 피겨 관계자들의 인터뷰 내용이다.

“How do you compare that to Sonja Henie?” said Kristi Yamaguchi, the 1992 Olympic champion, referring to the three-time gold medalist from Norway in the 1920s and 1930s. “Everything is relative to the time and era.” Still, Yamaguchi added, “Certainly, it has taken women’s skating to another level. Technically. The whole package.”

“Technically, she’s the greatest of all time,” said Ted Barton, a Canadian who helped devise the new points-based scoring system. “If she skates a little longer and does this over the next three or four years, she will be the greatest skater of all time.”

Scott Hamilton, the 1984 men’s Olympic champion, compared Kim to Seabiscuit, the thoroughbred, as dominant athletes who broke their competitors’ will. “Yu-na has only been at the top of her game for a couple of years,” Hamilton said. “But if she’s here another four years at this level, a lot of skaters would break down. They would try to up their games so much, there would be injuries. There’s no weakness there. Compare her with anybody; she’s got it all. Under any system, anywhere, anytime, she’d win.”

Michelle Kwan, the two-time Olympic medalist: “She’s the fastest skater I’ve ever seen.”

Katarina Witt, the 1984 and 1988 Olympic champion: “She has a lightness to her skating and her jumps are very high.”

Dorothy Hamill, the 1976 Olympic champion: “She’s the whole package. Her jumps are soaring and they’re equal. You don’t have one big one followed by a little tiny jump. I think she’s grown choreographically. She’s very musical. The whole thing is very beautiful and athletic but not too athletic. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything when I watch her.”

“As far as being renowned as a legendary artist, I don’t think so,” Frank Carroll, who coached the fourth-place finisher Mirai Nagasu of the United States, said of Kim. “As a really great skater, technically, yes.”

David Kirby, an American coach and a technical expert, said: “Clearly, she’s the best girl, but it’s because she’s the best technician. She’s 70 percent sport, 30 percent art. Peggy Fleming was a real artist and real athlete. I don’t think that balance of art and sport is the Olympic champion this year.”


김연아 선수의 높은 점수는 기본기가 탄탄한데다가 스피디한 스케이팅을 바탕으로한 높고 비거리가 긴 점프가 가능하기 때문이다. 여기에 예술적 표현 능력과 표정연기가 탁월하며 이를 한층 배가시켜주는 우아한 바디를 가지고 있다.

당분간 깨기 힘든 기록을 세운 김연아 선수는 이미 피겨계의 전설이 되어 버렸다. 아직 나이가 어리므로 개인적으로는 꾸준히 선수 생활을 하여 다음 올림픽 때도 나가주었으면 하지만 그건 전적으로 그녀의 선택이다. 지난 4년간 전국민을 기쁘게 해준 것 만으로도 그녀에게 충분히 고마워해야할 일이다.
